My installation is tomorrow. I'm considering using my spare NEC LCD computer monitor as my second TV. However, it has only a VGA input. How do I get the HD signal from the tuner (which I presume will be an H20) to the monitor? The only HD outputs on the H20 are HDMI and component. Do I need a transcoder or would an RGB to VGA cable suffice?

The monitor is only 15", but I'd like to stay away from SD connections as much as possible.

Thanks for the help.

I use this device to go from Component to VGA. It only works when the output is at P or progressive (480P or 720P). Search web and you can buy and various shops. I use it on a 19" widescreen Viewsonic VA1912wb monitor and it looks absolutely stunning.

KDS Key Digital Systems: KD-CTCA3

You might also be able to do HDMI to VGA too.

With the transcoder being that much $, I may just get an LCD TV instead.

Is an HDMI to VGA solution any less costly?

Good point. If you have the converters, will be on cheaper side.

However you have to watch out for what your monitor can do with resolution. I used my KDS on 2 LCD monitors and I cant get the picture size in properly at 720p on the non-widescreen. If I do 480p it fits. Also, they are newer monitors. I've used the KDS on an older CRT and doesnt look as good.

May have to leave DTV: will they make me pay up?
