Question on additional discounts for existing customers.

Hey All, I am currently thinking, I have almost 8 months left in my contract with DirecTV, if my contract expires, can I call directv to get additional discounts without having to extend my contract?
If not, I might have to turn to cable tv for all my channels, and keep my directv service inactive until NFL ST season begins....my cable provider would give me all channels + all HD + all premium channels for just 99$ monthly for 12 months includes also HD-DVR in the mix + 150$ cashback.

I've never had much luck other then D* handing out $5 off per month for 6 months and Free premiums, for 3 months. Just have to do what I did, I go with Family pack , and when Baseball season starts I go Up Choice pack for YES. So I can watch some Yankees Games.
