Question regarding receiver replacement

I'm on the phone with Directv getting a standard DVR replaced. I ask when my commitment is up and am told March 2010. We signed up January 2008. We had to have one of our HD DVR receivers replaced under the protection plan in March 2008 due to it going bad. I'm told they renewed the contract for 2 years from that date. Our other one is on the fritz and am told if I replace it under the protection plan my contract will start over again for 2 years.

That doesn't sound right to me. That's why I pay for the protection plan....

Based on her supervisor I was correct. A replacement receiver for a LEASED receiver which is what we have, does not extend the commitment. She knew we have leased receivers.

From what I understand ...
If you have the Protection Plan, the contract is not extended.
