First off, please forgive me if this question is asinine.
How does the cable company's combine all the sat signals and send them all out over a single coaxial cable to be viewed with nothing more than a cable ready TV?

Each channel is assigned it own frequency. The TV then tunes into the frequency and displays the channel.
 
It helps that normal cable is still analog, hence why they are able to do this without a seperate convertor.
