Replace HDrive

Looking to upgrade my hard drive on my DVR to 1.5 TB
Is there anything special about there hard drive or any sata hard drive will work

Also will this void any warranties since I have protection plan on own receivers.

Why don't you just use an esata drive and not worry about voiding your warranty.

I like to be in the unit if possible it is just preference

If you are going to replace the drive I would do it with a Western Digital AV SATA drive. Replacing the drive will void your warranty of the DVR. You might be able to keep the old drive and replace it back into the device if you need to have a replacement. The only problem would be if your receiver has the seal to show if the box has been opened.

You might want to consider weaknees at HR20, HR21, HR21 Pro, HR22 and HR23 DirecTV HD DVR Upgrades

They also have a copy service to get all content and settings moved over to the new hard drive.

What form factor are the HD's? 3.5"? 2.5"?
