I’m thinking about using the reset/reboot procedure as mentioned here.
http://www.satelliteguys.us/dish-network-forum/239620-722k-freezes-reboots-when-trying-enter.html

I have the problem mentioned in “Missing beginning of programs“ and thought a reset/reboot might be worth a try. But I do have some questions though.

What is stored in NVRAM that gets cleared out?

I’m presuming the software such as version L690 is on the HDD and will get reloaded when the DVR establishes contact again with the satellites. Is this correct?

But what about the OS or firmware? Where is it stored? Obviously I don’t want to end up with a brick because I wiped out something critical.

Any comments & suggestions would be appreciate.
Thanks.

I don't see in your link where this was used for missing beginning of programs. (or have heard of that having anything to do with it) Wouldn't adding a minute to the start of programs overcome that?

A simple front panel reset or hard boot (unplug) will not affect anything on your receiver. It's worth a shot. I do it routinely just to clear out the cobwebs.

And furthermore, the receiver's firmware is NOT stored on the the disk inside DVRs, and it will not get reloaded from satellite unless it gets corrupted somehow. Even if you succeeded in corrupting the firmware (don't do that!), it would just reload the current firmware version and put you back where you were.

You are correct that it does not say in the link that the process was used for my problem. I was just pointing to the link as a reference as to what type of reset/reboot I was asking about. I thought if it cleared out corrupt data that perhaps it might fix my problem.

I have been adding an extra minute to the start time. But I'm still concerned why that AV Record time gets changed. So far it's happened 19 times in 8 months.

I have done a hard boot (unplug) a few times during that time, but it does not fix the problem. Dish suggests swapping DVRs. I figured if recordings have to be backed up in either case what is there to lose if the reset/reboot is done.
