I just called the retention dept and got a recorded message that
"You have reached a non-working number at DirecTV." Anyone have a new/current number????? Thanks

What number did you dial so we can eliminate posts that will just include that number.

800-600-8977

OR Just call 800-directv (or any number they have on your bill or on screen) and specifically ask for Customer Retention.

18006008977 was a direct to retention dept number - no longer in service
i was asking if anyone had a new number for that dept, i realize that you can just call the main number, i want the retention dept's direct #
Thanks

why the heck did they change it ?

Because the LAST thing they want is to have to pay someone $6 an hour to actually talk to a customer. It's much easier to direct customers into a Star Trek style "temporal causality loop" where the automated phone attendant just repeats the same thing.

Picard: "Change heading to coordinates 115 by 13 mark 2."
Worf: "Captain, the DirecTV attendant STILL asks us to unplug our receiver"
Picard: "Heading 235 by 64 mark 15"
Worf: "Captain, the DirecTV attendant STILL asks us to unplug our receiver"
Picard: "Oh the hell with it! Just cancel our service."
Worf: "Captain, the DirecTV attendant STILL asks us to unplug our receiver"
Picard: "Abort Mr. Worf! Abort"
Worf: "Captain, the DirecTV attendant STILL asks us to unplug our receiver"
Picard: "Worf, fire photon torpedos at Spaceway 1"
Worf: Captain, the DirecTV satellite must be using some type of cloaking technology, it deflects our torpedos and I get a message..."Captain, the DirecTV attendant STILL asks us to unplug our receiver"
Picard: CAll customer retention!
Worf: Number disconnected, "Captain, the DirecTV attendant STILL asks us to unplug our receiver"
Picard: Can you get a reading on any humanoid life forms at any DirecTV center?
Worf: "Captain, the DirecTV attendant STILL asks us to unplug our receiver"

etc, etc, etc......

Maybe they could reduce their churn by allowing pissed off customers actually talk to a human being.

Don't know for sure...speculation is that some people were selling the old
nbr on E-bay as some sort of "how to get" pkg. for $$$$. Others say that
D* wanted the front line CSR's to handle all the calls...they will xfer the call
to rentention of course if you insist....the new nbr is not that old, but they
might change that one too!!! :(
