Roethlisberger accused of Sexual Assault

That doesn't pass the smell test with me. If a women is raped there are laws against that and she has every right to press charges. Suing someone a year after the fact? Sounds like a shakedown to me. If Roethlisberger didn't do anything criminally wrong then why does she deserve even a penny of his money?

You are right....that is why there is gonna be SOME KIND(I hope) of investigation. But how many times has it happened where a powerful person(someone with plenty $$$$) can BUY their way out of getting in trouble. That is why she named abunch of people that works for the casino trying to hide it.

I mean personally, I still think it is a he said/she said...but we cannot sit here and pretend we KNOW this person just because we see them play a game on TV....NOR can we assume she is telling the truth just because it is a woman crying rape.

As more is uncovered, criminal charges could still be filed against him. Civilly she just needs to prove her case is 51% correct (and must prove that it's more than he said/she said more or less for the judge to allow it to even proceed to a jury trial). Criminally all reasonable doubt must be erased.

I'm enjoying the heat ESPN is getting for ignoring this story - http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-report-of-roethlisberger-story-embarrassing/

"People were going insane," an ESPN source told Gonzalez. "FOX News was doing the story. The AP had it. And they wouldn't even let us mention it. You can't ignore the story. It needs to be on SportsCenter. It makes us look bad. It's not a topic for discussion, but you have to acknowledge that it's being reported, that the story exists."

An ESPN source summed it up more succinctly for us: "This is embarrassing."

As another person with connections to Bristol explained it, once Commissioner Roger Goodell acknowledged that the league "will look into" the allegations, it became a story that ESPN had no choice to acknowledge.

But they didn't, and to our knowledge they still haven't.

LOVE the last line of the story....

Regardless of whether they ever do, has it ever been any more clear that we need a viable, national competitor for the self-described "Worldwide Leader"?

I think there is a statute of limitation on rape. It's not a year, but you can't wait forever. Murder there is no limit. Of course what matters is Nevada law and I don't know what the deal is there.

NO ONE DOES!! LMAO! I mean when the states' department of tourism just about endorses "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!" ....who knows!

Tahoe is awesome.

From what I've ready, there is no statute of limitations on rape for criminal charges as long as it's reported within 4 years of it happening. Someone said something on the radio (ESPN ironicly) that the year delay in charges had something to do with being able to serve him, and he comes there every year so that's why it's almost exactly a year later.

Don't know if that's BS or what.
