OK I want to make sure I have this right so I dont record the wrong channel ;)

OK so if I see this right the RSN's that are up 24/7 have a HD counterpart on the same number. Since I did hide SD dupes the HD version is what will record. So my local RSN is FSN North (668). The HD version is the only thing that shows up in the guide so it will record the HD channel just like if I recorded ESPN, CNN, TNT, USA, etc

FSN Ohio & FSN Cincy seem to be "game time" only HD channels. 660 & 661 show the right programming in SD but 660-1 & 661-1 are the HD version but only show the hockey game as "next"....ok no biggie there

Here is the one I'm concerned with. The RSN Alt channels and the FCS versions (617,623,625) list both a SD & HD (-1) version. If the program is NOT in HD from the source, if I record it on the -1 channel will it still record but be black barred on the side? I know for a fact the FCS games are NOT in HD as example the North Dakota games are SD only. Another good example is Altitude2 (682). Everything on there is in SD only. If there is no HD of the game will it still record on the -1 version? Or should I just record the SD channel?

there is nothing on -1 channel during the Sioux hockey games besides a dtv logo, make sure you record just the sd version channel

thats what I was wondering. Thanks for the confirmation. So really the RSN alt channels its better (and safer) to just record the SD version then.

I wouldn't COUNT on ANY ALT channel for anything.
You never KNOQW if it's going to be there.

What ycebar said is what I was going to point out as well.
IF theres no HD then recording the .1 feed would only record the logo .... great if your looking to record music and the logo, otherwise, I wouldn't advise it !

OK I'll do the smart thing and record the normal channel then ;)

But what about the "bigger" part time RSN's like FSN Wisconsin or FSN Houston. I know FSN Wisco has college hockey that should be in HD.

If it shows in the listing being in HD, record the .1 if thats the case, otherwise you'll record the HD channel to start with seeing your set up like I am where I don't see the SD channels.

where the heck you been?
Yeah got HD today installed. New dish and a H23. I kept me 2 R22's and had the HD turned on
Haven't been on-line much and the few times I have been here I have mostly been in the sports section or the chat room. Haven't visited Direct forum in a while
