Okay, finally got the dish, compass, satfinder, motor and receiver. I have hooked up the receiver to my satfinder and my satfinder to my lnb. I am pointing toward my true south. I am moving the dish all over the place and my meter is doing nothing. It has two led lights that don't light up at all, should they be on? AMC5 is the dish I am looking to connect to, my zip is 26149. Is my sat finder junk or am I just missing the satellite completely. Is there anything i should know about with the traxis receiver and the use of a satfinder?

Thanks
Charles Poole

Make sure the satellite meter is the right way round, it may only work one way. Make sure the receiver is on as thats what supplies the meter with power. If your angles are off, or the pole/mast is not plumb and level you will never see any signal.

A satellite meter is nothing more than an aid to installation you will have to enter a LIVE channel on your receiver and watch for signal "quality" to confirm you are on the right satellite.

Good idea not using the motor for now and double check you angles below.

The traxis receiver is on, I can feel the juice coming from the wire as well, the pole is plum, the motor is out of the loop for now. Should the lites on the meter glow, I beleive they indicate voltage.13-18v? When should these lights come on?

Thanks
Charles

yes, thats the one, 13v and 18v beside the leds, i was just expecting one of the leds to come on.

All the ones I've used, light up with the LNB power.
If you have two lights, one for each voltage, all the better.
One or the other had better be on or you aren't feeding power to the LNB.
Check your cable.
Get a volt meter and see if you have 13 volts outside on the cable.
Should be easy to track down.
Maybe some mode on the receiver??

I tried again this morning. The led came on, I found my southern most sat. The meter works fine. Loose conection I assume. Thanks for the input.
