sat help

im having trouble getting the channels listed, my sisters gets all the channels on her sat...so i check the sat signals from each of our systems, listed are my numbers and hers:

Sat 101 mine - 95 hers- 94
sat 110 mine - 98 hers - 90
sat 119 mine - 99 hers - 90
sat 99(c) mine - 91 hers- 85
sat 99(s) mine - 79 hers- 83
sat 103(s) mine -NA hers- NA
sat 103(c) mine - NA hers - 85
sat 72.5 mine 96 hers - doesnt even show a sat 72.5

also, the channels i cant get to come in are
72 ESPN HD
73 ESPN 2 HD
75 TNT HD
202 CNN HD
207 ESPN News HD
248 FX HD
265 a&e HD
266 BIO HD
269 HIST HD
273 BRVO HD
276 NGC HD
278 DSC HD
280 TLC HD

Interestinlgy the "other' espn HD (206) and espn 2 HD (209) channels do come in

i dont know what the 72.5 sat is about and it looks like the 103(c) is the only other difference...thanks for your help..tate

The 72.5 satellite is for markets where the locals do not come from the 119 satellite
there are ony few places that use this bird, no HD comes from it at all
we will need some more info about your problem like your zip, what dish, what are you supposed to be getting, what model receiver etc for us to help you ou t

hey, thanks for replying...zip is 64034, slimline dish, receive kc locals off that, hr20-700, choice extra package...all the same setup my sister has, exactly, but for some reason mine is picking up 72.5 sat and is getting not acquired on the 103, thanks again

just checking if anyone had any suggestions based on the information...any setting or whatnot?...or if i need to replace the lnb's or something

The first troubleshooting to do is to check all cables and connections. I'd try switching some cables around to see if anything changes.

Tate,
Are you using your BBC 's , small box on the back of your rec.
Maybe your sisters are there and yours are not.

The BBC's allow mpeg 4 signals where as without, you would not get any of your mpeg 4 HD channels, which is MOST of them, you listed alot of HD missing, thought I'd ask.

Also check channels 480-483 to verify the 99 and 103 are being seen.

They use to also have a few channels that verified your BBC's working, but they must have taken them down as I don't see them anymore.

If you have only a single dish and are seeing an indication of the 72.5 satellite, the wrong dish configuration is selected and you should redo the satellite setup in the menu.

thanks guys...i will definitely try the sat setup, that sounds like it could be it because i do have single dish and am getting the 72.5 sat

i do have those things on the back that are between the incoming cable and the receiver, also, as for the 480 channels:

480 - searching for satellite
481 - searching for satellite
482 - Correct HD Dish Setup 99B-Band Odd (13V)
483 - Correct HD Dish Setup 99B-Band Even (18V)

Hmmm,
480 and 481 should be for the correct HD dish set up for the 103 sat.
How can you have the wrong set up for the 103 and have the 99 correct ????

This, I don't think is looking for Signal strength at this point ....
IF it is, it would mean your not seeing the 103 at this point, but it's had to get the 99 and not have the 103 available at the same time.

Wait to see what some others have to say about this first .....

I wonder if your dish is pointed slightly off and your seeing the wrong sat slots ...
Or it could be a number of other things as well.

update

ok, following some suggestions from you guys, i have some new developments..

its definately something with the 103 sat.

i did go into dish setup, and changed dish type to slimline 5...as thought it was set on slimine 5 & 72.5...

when it check configuration, it found all the sats and i also checked the levels

101 - 95
110 - 92
119 - 95
99 (c) - 91
99 (s) - 75
103 (s) - not aquired
103 (c) - 95

HOWEVER! none of the channels at all will come in...they all that the 771 searching for satellite?????

also, channels

480 - searching
481 - searching
482 - correct setup
483 - correct setup

but like it said..after swiching the dish type 103 (c) shows 95???

My best guess is a bad lnb. Do you have a receiver you know is good that you can swap with yours, maybe your sisters? That way you can eliminate the receiver as a problem. Did you try swapping cables like jdspencer suggested? It's possible your dish is out of alignment. Have you had high winds? Can you check the mounting bracket and bolts to make sure everything is tight?

well, when i switch all dish type to slimline 5, it receives good signal on all 5 sats, if i select slimline 5 + 72.5, it red "x" for the 103 dish...i will try to switch out receivers to eliminate that possibility, thank u

Are you getting your locals off the 72 sat ?
If not, why are you including the 72 in your set up.
The 72 will not be use in the near future as everything will be moved off it, a lot has already been moved.

yeah, i dont know why it was setup that way...when i changed the setup, i kept getting searching for signal on every channel, even though all the satellites have great receptions and it recognizing them all
