Hi. Is it possible to get the signal of sat 99 with an 18inch round dish (pointing exclusively to 99). If so, what type of lnb would I need?

Thanks for any help.

Why not? A swm3 can be used with a Phase 3 dish if correctly modified. Theoretically you could make a swm3 work with an 18" dish.

He can't do it !
Ka LNBF doesn't come as single for 99°W; it consist 3 LNBFs: 2xKa [99/103W] and 1xKu [101W] and it is a monoblock.
Second - focal point and angles for the combo LNBF for KaKu dishes are far different then for old dishes and doesn't match Phase III or worst case - 18" dish.

You can use an SL3 LNB on a Phase III dish. It will pick up 99,101 & 103. I am sure that you could align it so that it is tweaked for the 99 (or the 103 for that matter). It is not the round 18 inch dish but it is not much bigger.

He is far away from US footprint, you should consider that first.

Also a size and geometry of Phase III in such condition will dramatically degrade signal, especially for Ka sats: 99 and 103W

OP said 18" dish and asked what type of LNB to get 99 - it is possible to ghetto rig an AU LNB (not the 18" garden variety) onto that dish to get 99 - but again - no way would I recommend it.

Just answering the dude's Q - yea it's possible (but so is C band on a 30") but not at all recommended.

What about using the new sl3pig lnb? Could that work perhaps with one of the older (smaller) 3 sat dishes?

I currently am using this set up & have no problems, only rainfade is when the big heavy rainclouds roll in....just like my slimline...
