I agree too. We may never see FF/RW (Trick Play) as good as a Tivo. Directv has made some improvements even releasing a skip back on fast forward upon play that is only in the new CE release. Even with that, the video motion and response is no where near that of a Tivo of all flavors and manufacturers.
That is why my DTivo is my main DVR, there are to many advantages over the Directv brands, little as they may be, but very important.

Does this mean D* will offer both a HD and SD version of all the channels?I don't have a high def TV, so it doesn't affect me.
Probably not. At some point they could go to only HD versions, if available, and MPEG4 SD for the others. That would require that they upgrade all users to HD receivers (which output 480i anyway).
I havent really played with it the past few days, I did grab the CE last night.
One thing I can say is that with each CE release the HR20 keeps getting better and better.

I don't understand how you can be getting signals from five(5) satellites if two of them have yet to be launched? Scott, you haven't posted to the diary since 06/01. How's it going? Did the DirecTV people who were following this have any comments regarding the CSR conversation and the HBO/Cinemax HD debacle?Here is where they are now...

There's 5 sats out there. The Spaceways are on 99 and 103. They are mostly used for local RSN's and local HD network channels.
D10 is going to 103 and D11 to 99.
The Spaceway's right now only take up 6-7 frequencies at each spot, D10 and D11 will take up the empty ones.
Remember, DirecTV alone has 5 or 6 sats just at 101, they all work together. And that doesn't count the non-DirecTV sats at 101 like AMC4 and so forth. Once you get into space that 1 degree slot is miles and miles wide.
Perhaps software has been updated to include these Spaceway satellites. A couple of months ago they did not show up as having any signal strength.
You may not get any signal from them depending on where you are since they are spot beamed. The software won't change that. There was a recent upgrade in the software of the H20's to better reflect the true signal strength. Maybe that is what you are referring to.

They've been up there going on 2 years now. Been broadcasting locals for nearly that long as well.As mentioned above you might not have been under any spots until recently.

I never saw the duplicates in the online bill. As for changes you should be able to do it via the online change programming option on their web site. You might just want to call ASAP though on the protection plan since if you cancel it within X number of days of it starting (don't remember the the limit) there is a cancellation charge.

Weather you like the magazine or not, it is free, at least on your account.
I have never seen the listings being duplicated like that, but I also don't think it's anything to worry about.
