Scott's Team Summit Blog

I appreciate all of the hard work! Thanks Scott. The info about the external hard drives being tied to a person's account vs. a box is great news! This should put several minds to rest (regarding archiving). 1 quick clarification, were you able to determine if we will be able to use any USB drive? I think I heard the answer is yes, but not sure. Thanks again!

This has been fun and very impressive coverage that must have taken quite a bit of effort. Thanks Scott for making us a part of the event.

The answer is yes. :)

Scott, have you found out anyting else on Food Network HD. Will we be getting it at all. I was wondering are we just not getting it at launch or are we are just not getting it all.

Thanks for all your reporting and help.

Looks like you and Satelliteguys.us are making quite an impression with Dish Network. I'm sure the big wigs are having their staff monitor your forum. Thanks for the great reporting!

The answer to this is YES but not at launch. Looks like the next HD launch they will launch another group of channels again.

They sure do, many of them commented on my AT&T Homezone Writeup I put online this morning, I was surprised who read it already. :)

Has there been any talk about adding CW in HD for the LIL HD markets this Fall? Sure would be nice to have the 5 main networks in HD. Thanks Scott for a job well done:)

First of all, Thanks for all the hard works you have done, Scott! As always, you bring more value to Dish's community!

Maybe I am missing something while reading all the news here, about AT&THome unit, Is that an add-on to 622 (or any MPEG4 receiver) or just another kind of receiver itself since there are SAT and OTA input on the box..... How and where is this fit with current DVRs?

I am very pleased to hear that the external hard drive swapping will be tied to the receivers on the account. I am curious if someone shuts off a 622 if they could still take the content from that one 622 and put it on the other. This would be great for someone that may want to put a 622 at a second home and playback their shows there then take the hard drive back to the receiver to retrieve more shows. This would avoid the audit issue that some may have and maybe make Dish Network happy in regards to some that wants to have a receiver at a second location. If the receiver has to actually be active then that would be a bummer. One could get a Tivo or alternative to do that.

It would be great to have the external storage for both 622's as it would be like a server in itself for both of them if they could be setup that way.

>> Can two or more external hard drive be setup with two or more 622 receivers? Can two or more external hard drives bet setup to work with one 622 alone at least?

Back from a great concert by John Fogerty to close Team Summit 2006.

Noticibly absent from the closing ceremony was Charlie Ergen.

When we walked into the Seminar there was a lot of security on the stage and around the stage with full armed policemen going across the stage.

We couldnt figure out what all the security was for and then there was a special announcement, we had a very special guest Ladies and Gentleman...

The President of the United States, George W Bush!

(Now I dont know if you saw a few weeks ago the President had a press diner and the president had a guy next to him and they were making fun of each other well that guy who played George Bush was playing him again tonight)

And this guy was FUNNY and gave us a 35 min show and he looked and sounded just like George W Bush, it was amazing.

What was disapointing was in past years after the closing ceremony is done they have a big party with a casino, music, booze and lots of booths setup by the programmers with celebrities from their popular shows.

Not this year.

There was music and booze... and a Casino however the Casino was hidden and I was the ONLY person in the Casino for the 15 minutes I was there, this room was so hidden no one could find it plus there were no signs on how to get to the Casino.

And no celebrities and fun booths like in the past.

I do hope they bring back this event next year, when Team Summit 2007 comes to us from Dallas Texas the first week of May.

Time for bed, got to be out of the hotel on the way to the airport at 6:30am.

next logical step for the external storage is to activate the Ethernet port, so you can archive events from one dvr to the other or to allow watching of an event on another dvr in your house! it's great to hear that i can put any usb drive on the receiver and i can *archive* so when i send in my broken 622 i'll still have my shows... i guess it's time to get a tera enclosure and some large drives to fill that sucker up!

Scott,
Charlie was actually in attendance tonite, but not up front. He was doing a meet and greet with his wife after the concert out in the drink and dessert area for quite a while.
I totally agree about the G.W.B. comic tonite. Had me in tears almost as much as Eric. "Sonofabitch can hide" line was classic! Even laughed about it on the drive home.
All in all a good weekend. It should be an interesting year in DishLand!
