Is anyone else having issues trying to search for anything?

I scrolled down but didn't see any other threads about it

It was an issue with the search engine. I had to restart it again and all is fine again. :)
It's been broken all day today for me. I even completely deleted my Satelliteguys cookie, and relogged back in, but no go.

Even trying to look at previous postings through my user profile gives me a server error

Rats... I thought I fixed this yesterday. I even tested things this morning and they were still working then.

Looking at the ElasticSearch database it appears we had 4 different versions of our search. I just deleted them all and am rebuilding the index again. It appears that the database is stored in memory and we were running out of memory because of all the other junk databases. This should hopefully take care of the issue once and for all.

It will take about 2 hours for the search engine reindex to complete.

a google search on satguys for hd-dvd
There's a blast from the past.

Most search engines have trouble with punctuation and acronyms. In this case, it may pay dividends to search for hddvd instead.

I'm glad the default sorting isn't "relevance" as it is on some other forums.

I am seeing it is working here, and I have not touched it. And I am not seeing anything in the logs either that are out of wack.

But I do see in the forum software error log that it says the search engine was unavailable.

I may just uninstall elasticsearch and reinstall it. This one has me scratching my head. It would be great if the search engines error logs showed something... anything. :)
