It would be great if the search engines error logs showed something... anything.

You may need to adjust the verbosity of the logging (often known as "log level"). Elastic Search offers seven levels of logging if you're using log4j.

Sounds like a job for "cron", Fire off at 08:00 and kill the Search daemon…

Search not working for me - 8:47am eastern.

There appears to be something happening around 8:30 that it causing it to stop around that time. I have the system set to restart it automatically when its down. The big issue there is it sometimes takes it about 5 minutes to startup as it loaded the search database in memory.

Again the logs are not showing any issues which makes this annoying for me. We are on ElasticSearch 7 now, I will upgrade it to ElasticSearch 8 when I have the time.

Again I can default us back to the built in search, but its slower and we lose the features like predictive search, but I may do that when I remove 7 and upgrade to 8.
