I asked a Voom CSR what would be invloved in getting a STB authorized
if I sold my STB to another person. She said that no one had asked
that question before and she would have to ask someone else. Well,
no one seemed to know the answer so she took my phone number and said
someone would get back to me. Later that day I received a call from
Voom and they informed me that the STB would only be authorized to
the original purchaser.

Just thought you should know.

Huh? So you couldn't ever sell a box you bought? OMG that is crazy I have sold three directv receivers this month online. If you decide to quit voom I guess you'll have a nice paper weight.

Only if you bought the receiver. Now this policy is not written in stone.

Quite frankly, I like the lease option just fine. As long as they keep rolling out new equipment every so often (3 years or so) and providing regular upgrades of the equipment, I'll be a happy camper. I'd look at that as money well spent on a cool service.
