Heelo guys,
I came across this forum from yahoo answers after hours of research. I have searched everywhere and someone from yahoo told to me to come here. I have searched through this forum but found no thread which helps a noob. Well here it is. Im really interested in FTA. Have little idea how it works. So far I have found out that i need a reciever, lnb, dis and motor to get started. Which ones I have no clue. Some guys mentioned to get smart search but there are so many. So if some one can please tell what I really need or suggest me a good system(whole setup) and where i can buy it so I can get started. I leave in seattle washington and we are very much in interested in getting channels from asia(india). I would really appreciate anyones help. Thanks A Million. :)

You can check with some of the sponsors here, listed at the top of the page. You probably can pick a fixed dish setup (no motor) as most of the international channels are on one satellite (97west-Galaxy 19). Not sure how many are Indian-originated but there are some.
I'll try to find a listing and edit my post.
A good simple receiver to start with would be the Mercury Dynamic, Traxis 3500, there are many manufacturers both those are two user-friendly boxes with blind scan feature, which is most useful feature.

edit: here's one list of free to air channels :

scroll down to the Galaxy19 listing, satellite name is in the middle of the page.....see if any of those channels are of interest to you.
