The first Chaparral Polarotor I purchased came with a 555 based controller. Few, if any receivers had the circuitry built in when it was first introduced. The circuit was probably similar to the video, but it had a toggle switch to flip the polarity 90 degrees, along with a pot for fine tuning. It was powered by a wall wart.

I wish I could solder that quickly.
