Team,
When setting a mast for an 8 foot C band dish how much rear clearance do I need if setting in front of a structure?

That all depends on how the structure is laid out on the property, and how that corresponds to YOUR particular satellite receivable arc "look angle". You'll need to measure, and calculate for yourself what that minimum distance will be for sure.Team,

Moving forward with setting the mast.3 1/2 inch ID schedule 40 mast with 4 inch by 4 inch fins welded in place painted with oil base Rustoleum.
You didn't make that hole a perfect cylinder all the way down? It appears so from the photos. How much cement did you use? It needs to be bell shaped towards the bottom. Otherwise a good wind might possibly spin the whole thing, cement and all.Moving forward with setting the mast.

setting Polar mount and dish.Moving forward with setting the mast.
You would be surprised at what you are missing for the little bit of work. And C-band does not rain fade. It's beautiful. Thanks for reminding me why I'm not putting up a C-band dish. The fun part now for you.

C is not an option for a big dish unless I move. Only suitable location is middle of my driveway for the pole due to trees blocking visibility. Or far from the house where visibility would be restricted to maybe 87W through 101W.You would be surprised at what you are missing for the little bit of work. And C-band does not rain fade.
