Hi everyone,

I would like to know if anybody knows if there’s any Shaw Direct info regarding satellite migration this year?

I’ve hear some rumors that Shaw direct is planning to relocate channels from Sat F1R and F2, and move them to G1 sat.

Does anybody knows if this is true? or just speculations?

Nothing new on that I can see. This is the lastest bulletin.

IMPORTANT REMINDER
February 5, 2019 DROP OF ALL STANDARD DEFINITION MPEG-2 SIGNALS Phase 3 MPEG-2 to MPEG-4
Transition to begin April 2019 In April 2019 we will begin to drop MPEG-2 standard definition signals from our satellites. The drop of the MPEG-2 signals will continue for several months. By Fall 2019 we will have a primarily all MPEG-4 high definition offering with some MPEG-4 standard definition signals. To make the transition as smooth as possible we encourage customers to start launching the MPEG-4 signals as soon as possible. Please don’t wait for the MPEG-2version of the signal to drop from the satellite. We can not delay any of the signals being dropped so it is imperative that you are prepared in advance.
Which basically means get rid of all the old receivers and switch to the 600 or 800 series

There are no channels moving to G1. There are some channels moving from G1 to F1R/F2, about half a dozen plus or minus. However you may loose some channels if you only receive the Std Def version right now. If the Hi Def version is on G1 then you could loose that channel if you not within the G1 footprint.

The following provides the current final plan for F1R/F2 in excel format

LOSat, thanks for posting the spreadsheets. Looks like I get to keep TCM after all. TVO is about the only channel I watch on a regular basis that I'll lose when the SD version goes away.

I'm good as long as F1R and F2 are working, who knows after that.

Today Shaw Direct has launched the new National channel map. A Rep in another forum has indicated that for now it will be optional only. People on the advanced channel lineup will not automatically move to the new channel numbers today. I believe everyone will migrate in the fall. If you wish to and have a way of contacting Shaw Direct without revealing where you are you can ask for it. If you are in a southern location I would wait until September because a handful of channels will move from G1 to F1R or F2 and if you switch right now you will lose the standard def version until the HD version moves. ie TCM, CBC News Network, CTV News Network in particular.

New revamped channel lineup launch and migration delays for existing customers.
We are excited about the new channel lineup . We ask that every new installations moving forward we provision receivers using the new channel map X4L. Due to operational constraints, we will be delaying our phased migrations for existing customers onto the new channel lineup to a later date. Although migrations are delayed, our existing customers can still opt-in early for the new channel lineup, so be sure to read on.

With this delay, we anticipate that our existing customers will contact us as we had communicated in April via invoice and in-Guide messaging that they would be automatically migrated once the new lineup launches.

Our original launch plan was to have all Advanced customers migrate together on the launch date to the new lineup, followed by our Classic customers in smaller phases later on. As this plan has now changed, those on the Advanced lineup will also be migrating in smaller phases.

How does this launch update impact new and existing customers?

The new channel lineup is available June 26 and new customers registering will be based on the new channel lineup. Existing customers still have the option of using the new channel lineup. They can opt-in early by contacting us to make this change.

Channel Tools and Pipe Resources

With this delay, we will be operating with 3 channel lineups (the new channel lineup, Advanced, and Classic) until our Advanced customers are migrated and the old Advanced lineup is decommissioned. Be sure to check for all the information about this change including channel tool details and The Pipe resources you can use to assist customers.
