I had new service installed on July 28th. From what I have read about MRV, I wish I would have gone that route.

My install included 3 TV - 2 HDTVs with HD DVR - Model HR24. One standard TV with standard receiver (no DVR). The installer had told me that if I ever wanted to go with MRV, I would just need to add an HD receiver, the H24, and that is all I would need. Does anyone know if that's true?

Also, is it correct that you need special equipment to get On Demand and MRV? Just curious, as I don't really need the On Demand.

Thanks.

1st yeah from what I understand the MVR only works with HD Receivers so you should get another H24 for MVR... Reality everyone should not get SD only get HD this way when you do upgrade your TV's to HD your set.

2nd what I would suggest is getting the BroadBand DECA installed that way it will pass your internet connection to all of your receivers and you have full functionality of your receivers as well. This will get your receivers on the internet,TV Apps, Media Sharing with PC's,ect. Let us know how it goes. :)

for MRV you need either HR24 or H24. I have 2 HR24 units 1 on a HD tv the other on a SD tv and they're able to see each other and play off each other. They use the coax line to send data back and forth, no ethernet or wifi needed.

What I am lacking is the Broadband DECA, I guess that's what the $25 install fee for VOD is for.

Actually not totally true. I have two HR20s with my MRV setup.:cool:

DTv= MRV/On demand the difference

MRV or whole home is truely available for h20 series std /hd irds and HR21 hd-dvr and newer units it is compatible with the r-22 (dvr) beacuse it is mpeg-4 capable the deca works as a broadband and as a media adaptor. If you want mrv it is installed by itself in a swim compliant system. To have on demand the deca is power with a broadband connector,which always the on demand service to seen an down loaded to a hd-dvr.
