Obviously, higher is better. Most customers should be seeing signal in the 90's on the majority of transponders. However, anything above 70 is considered an acceptable signal. I've seen signals as low as the mid 50's before pixelation started.
 
I'm not necessarily concerned, just want to make sure i'm getting good signal before it's too late get them to repoint. Most singals are in the 90s some 80s... a few in the upper 70s.

Sounds like your numbers are good to great.
My numbers are all in the 90's except for a few lagging in the mid to high 80's.

Most of mine are in the mid to upper 90's. There are one or two I think are fringe of spot beams not intended for my DMA that almost reach me and post 40's or so.

Sounds pretty good, though I don't think I have any 70s. The guy who realigned mine in January did a GREAT job.

Not sure if i am the exception. I am about 400 miles from you but my lowest signal strength on any sat on any transponder is 89. most are in the upper 90's with a bunch at 100%. You are closer to the sat's than I am so a good alignment should eliminate any 70's you have (assuming a clear LOS)
 
The 2-3 transponder I have, any negative in getting a 70s? I havent had any pixelation of service issues. Would the PQ improve? I'd hate to waste hours on a tech coming out for something that isnt necessary.

Nope... it's an either or thing. If you get the signal and it's a solid high 70 the program quality won't be any different. If it drops.. you'll see the pixellation and dropouts.

As long as you're seeing a full signal the receiver can decode you're getting whatever that program quality is that's coming off the bird.
 
The only thing is the lower the signal in good weather, the lower it will get in bad weather and could lead to faster picture drop outs compared to channels on TPs with higher signals.

Can anyone in the SF Bay Area give me some numbers to compare with? Not sure if my readings are worth improving although I do get the checking for signal message on certain channels : This is with a Slimline 5LNB

Your 103c readings are very low. Were these taken in good weather? In good weather mine are all in the 90s. Granted I'm near Buffalo, but for national TPs we should be very close.
 
Regular clouds shouldn't matter too much. If they were heavy rain clouds than your 101 readings would have been lower. If I was you, I'd get my dish realigned. Or maybe wait until D11 is lit up at 99c just to make sure you are really dialed in to all the sats.

Once D11 is at 99, there will be 2 at 99 (99c and 99s), 2 at 103 (103c and 103s) and I believe there's 2 at 101 (though only 1 sat at 101 shows up in the signal strength). You should be able to get very strong signals from all those slots (though many on 99s and 103s will be low or 0 since they are spot beam). There's also the 110 and 119 slot which are further out to the side, but I still get 90s and 100s on them too. I think it all depends on how good/patient the technician is.

Sounds like his issue is with the "Fine Tuning" as the other sats look fine, the 103 really should be up in the high 80's and 90's, that would be the 103 (c).
