Now that D* became the first provider to provide not only movies, but sports and entertainment related programming, all in HD all the time! Who's jumping ship? I saw this coming! People here never believed me. Between Dish loosing channels (even if they didn't loose the Disney channels) and D* now launching a boat load of movie channels, its hard not to take a look at Directv. With these movie launches, Dish just lost the upper hand in the movie arena which was the only place dish had a stronghold of in the programming department.

Charlie,

I don't know what it is but when I start screaming, maybe you all should take a look and actually do what I'm saying. Im screaming for a reason, and its not that I want to complain, (I hate to do it, but I love the company so much that Ill play the heel (bad guy) if it gets you to change for the better) God forbid I'm actually right! BTW I'm 5 for 5 in all of my predictions. Hate to say it but I told you so! Now what's gonna happen from here, is were going to start seeing subscriber losses, It wont happen over night, but it works like Novocaine, slow and effective. The advertising department might keep the ship afloat for a while (maybe just enough) but we will eventually see it, if the status quo stays the same.

The only way to fix this, is repair the damage with Disney, Rainbow Media, and launch HD RSN's. From there you might have to work some magic with the MLB, and maybe with the NFL once Sunday ticket renewal comes up in a few years. It's not to late to repair the damage, but it will take allot of work. You still can be Number One, but it takes swallowing your pride and doing the unthinkable to get it done.

If you don't start now, especially with the transition to MPEG4 on WA, you might not be able to repair the ship before its fully sunk. D* just gave you a strong shot to your bow, how are you gonna respond? I'm, available for hire, if you want your problems fixed. But its gonna come, without any conditions.

Charlie, Your a good man, and a good friend, You just need to listen to the young people like me.. I'm not going to steer you wrong, not like others. You have nothing to worry about as I have nothing but love, even if it means breaking up like a bad relationship. You have a true ally with me, even if it doesnt appear like that. I just wish you guys would listen and respond quicker, because you wouldnt be in this situation if you did.

Staying put myself with the Absolute HD. We haven't lost our channels that we watch yet. Never watched the ones that were lost anyways.

Very happy with Dish at this point.

Ah..... lets see in the past two months Dish Customers got EPix1, Epix2, Retro, and Indie; movie channels I have watched more than anything else.

Yes Disney is gone -- FOR NOW - it will be back. Give it a rest my friend.

I am sticking with my absolute, besides if someone hadn't mentioned I had lost channels, I would never have paid attention to it.

plus, i read at dbstalk that versus is about to pull hd from dish. same contract negotiation crap they gave us. but, hey, you can watch the tour de france in stunning sd.

My kids were the only ones who watched the Disney channels, they can't tell whether they are HD or SD, so big loss right now, I myself want my ESPNEWS HD back, but I can do without right now, it's not the end of the world. There are more important things in life to worry about right now. Charlie will eventually work things out, it might take a while, but they will be Back. Remember the Viacom situation, look at the results of that.

There was only one program that I watched on ABCFamily, but heh, I would not give up my Absolute for one program and three channels that I never watched anyway. Hang in there Charlie, don't listem to or hire Bob.

this appears to be BS. (Or they are not saying anything.) As no one I have spoke too knows anything about this.

Only time will tell though I guess.

DirecTv still has not launched HBO Comedy in SD or HD, also they are yet to add any more Cinemax channels, and as stated earlier they do not have EPix or the Retroplex channels. They are gaining ground but still are not on par with Dish if you like movies also they do not have the Superstations, which I have always enjoyed.

No big deal

I have the $.1 cent Cinemax deal. I rarely watch it. As to Epix, Indie & Retro....they don't employ the proper aspect ratios, so I rarely watch those either.

You don't mean to complain, and yet it seems to be all you do...

I believe if you want to leave, the appropriate thing to say is "don't let the door hitya where the good Lord splitya." Me, I'm staying put.

I watch those channels and have never noticed anything wrong with aspect ratios.

I think he's referring to 2.35 which most movies originate in, rather than cropping in to 16x9. That said however, I have seen plenty of Epix movies in OAR.

Seems to be an odd reason not to watch certain channels. If the movies are good and in HD then I find it hard to beat.

I love my dish, but this is annoying. I WANT all movie channels that are available. I flip through the movie channels every night to see what's on, and of course if I like the movie and want to see it for the 100th time, I want it in HD.

For the first time, I am tempted to say "screw it" and leave them. They're lucky I love the receiver's UI so much.

They need to get this worked out, get those channels back, and get freakin' AMC on.

That alone makes me want to go to another provider.

I do love those Epix channels though.

From some of the reading of posts, I dont think many would "Jump Ship" without any scentific data to back me many Dish subs seem to not be concerned with the drop of ESPN in HD
