Software Update Release Notes 10/19/10

The Following Software Release Notes are provided to us courtesy of DISHsupport.COM

The ViP 722k will begin getting new software this week. L669 for the 722k has the following fixes and updates:

Sling Adapter full support, Pop-Up Rework Phase I, skip 100 ch. up/down in view fix, reboot fixes, Misc Under the Hood Changes

The 722 will also be getting an update this week to software version L671 and has the following updates and fixes:

Sling Adapter full support, skip 100 ch. up/down in view fix, reboot fixes, Misc Under the Hood Changes

The ViP 612 is getting a little love with new software this week as well. The new software version will be L640 and will feature the following updates and improvements:

Wi-Fi Dongle support, EPG banner Ads Phase 1, STBH Live, DRA support for IPVOD (old UI), 500GB HDD support (addt'l drive space to VOD – pending HDD cut-in decision), favorites list color change, Misc Under the Hood Fixes.

And finally the long awaited Slingloaded ViP 922 is rolling out now! The new software version is S109 and features the following updates and improvements:

Wi-Fi, EHD Archiving, IR Remote Learning, ‘Yellow light’ connectivity fix, Misc.

It should be noted that most software releases roll out slowly, so while you might not get the update today you will get it sometime in the future. There is no way to force your receiver to download the updates until your receiver is targeted by DISH. Remember good things come to those who wait.

What exactly does "WiFi" mean for the 922? Also noticed that the 722 got Sling adapter support... What about Sling extender support for the 922?

Sorry... I corrected it above. I put 622 instead of 612.

The 612 software update is scheduled to start going out on Thursday.

Doesn't the 622 generally get the same software as the 722, so it should be there?

No the 622's and 722 are running different software now.

Means it probably supports the USB WIFI adapter that coming out in November.

No this is the device you plug into your ViP DVR's USB port and it gives that receiver Sling functionality. It turns you receiver into a Slingbox with one wire.

I received S109 on my 922. In the broadband setup there is an icon for "sync DB". Not sure what is for, when I select it, nothing happens. Hopefully this is for Googletv. There is also an icon for "USB wireless ". Transfer from 922 to external HDD is working. That is all that I have found new.
