Well you would lose that bet. First off the s12 is the same as a S10 just in a smaller box. Don't believe take your s12 firmware and load it on your s10 or vise-versa.
The Openbox s9, s10, s11, and s12 all use the same chip-set.
The GeoSat MicroHD uses a whole different chip-set so no the same firmware will not work. The MicroHD has US support the s12 don't. The MicroHD don't lock up on certain bit rates or HD feeds. The S9-S12 Does. Also the MicroHD has a faster dual core processor and more ram(probably why no lock-ups).

Yes it works as a DVR with a flash drive OR a hard drive. Works with FAT or NTFS - I have tested it with a flash drive with both formats. Works great.

Not wanting to get too technical -cause i can not without going beyond my knowledge - the LNB LO frequency is the conversion from the band frequency to the receiver's actual frequency, so the LNB controls what the receiver receives. SO, yes KU, KA, or C band are all possible. Modulation types are controlled in the receiver, however.
