I have an HR24 that was recently installed and the caller ID is sporadic. I have rebooted the receiver and it may work a while but then quits. If I plug a phone into the phone line going to the receiver it works fine. I'm wondering if I have a defective receiver? The other thing I've noticed today is that when I go to the guide the video freezes. If I change channels, then it seems to work.

Caller ID has been an issue for many years now, some times it works, other times not.
Currently mine works fine, but I'll go stretches that it will not.
This with a variety of recvrs.

I do have DSL with one filter where it comes into my house. I also have two HR24-700 non-DVR's and the caller ID works fine on them and if I plug a caller ID phone into the line going to the DVR it works fine. Are you suggesting a second filter on the line going into the DVR? Yesterday I got a robo call from Direct welcoming me to their service and if I have an concerns or questions to call their new customer line. I have a notion to call them and see if they'd ship me a replacement DVR.

If you have a what we call a NID DSL Filter, then NO you don't need any filters in the home.
Thats a filter thats set up in the Network Interface and makes your DSL connection normally a home run ...
