Stanley Cup

He is probably busy watching the game and celebrating just like everyone else living north of the Mason-Dixon line.:)

Interesting Stat:

The Wings outshot the Penguins 222-142 in the series or 13.3 more per game. It really all boiled down to Detroit not letting Pittsburgh skate freely across the blue line, while their offense was much more successful controlling the action up ice. It's part of the experience factor which some folks forget when planting their two-lips on young Mr. Crosby's arse and crowing the Penguins champions.

Tomorrow begins Day 1 of our Stanley Cup Defense...but I will try not to think about over the summer. I am all up for a rematch next year!

I noticed that the Wings kept pressure on Flurey and stayed aggressive until the Pens pulled thier goalie and the refs gave them another chance by calling another penalty late, making it a 6 on 4 kill and a Wing broke a stick as well, 6-3 , no wonder they scored thier last goal.

btw, Where has Paul been ?

Stanley Cups anyone ???

Montreal Canadians 24
Head and shoulder above everyone else

Next come a tie between Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs, both with 11

Edmonton Oilers have 5

I think I read that the Pens have 4, but I only saw in the article I was quoting as having 2.

NY Islanders have 4 as well.

OK, I don't post much to the sports area, but had to sport the new avatar!

I only have one thing to say: Way too close at the end!

I love it and am stealing it for other forums..Now if we can only get the Lions to produce:rolleyes:

I did love the hit on Crosby that sent him to the bench.. He was terribly confused for a moment.

L.A. Kings have got to have a few too. When Gretsky (sp?) was there he grabbed 5 or so no?

That last second or two with the puck flirting with the Wing's goal line was pretty intense. Almost an overtime game ...

ESPN reported 13 as well, the article I read said 11, hmm, I guess I'll have to go back to the page I had found and count them up !!!

edit:
Toronto has won the Stanley Cup 11 times as the Maple Leafs and twice as another team from Toronto.
The Leafs last win was back in '66-'67

Yep, they still count since it is still the same franchise. Heck, I still slip-up and call the Indy Colt the Baltimore Colts, and sometimes refer to the Dallas Stars as the Northstars. Anyway, it's hard to imagine but it has been more than 40 years since the Leafs last skated with the Cup. One of my earliest sports memories is watching the Maple Leafs play in the Stanley Cup with my grandfather.

Hey Paul,

Congrats on your boys winning the Cup:up. I can't wait for next next season to start. My Flyers went from the worst team in the NHL last year to the conference championship round this year. Maybe, just maybe we can give the Wings a good run.;)

Yep, the Flyers had a great turnaround season...but it's hard not the like the Penguins in the east.

Very Nice riffjim,

Of course they have proved them ALL Wrong

Jimbo

Riffjim said it all, as far as I'm concerned. I'll just add that it was another cardiac arrest ending.
Congratulations to the Red Wings!
I'm betting on a rematch next season.

What happened to Rob7?

As a Red Wings fan, you'd expect HIM to show up at a time like this.

Sabres Rule,

I Like your Avatar, I believe that is Dave Andrechuk, YES? I can't believe the Sabres got rid of him when they did. You gotta love a Guy that loves to camp in front of the opposing goalie's net, not to mention he was very hard to move from in front. It was nice to see Dave win a Stanley Cup, albeitly with another team.

Now we are just marking time till the drop of the puck in October, guess I'll have to grin and bear it spending my weekends at the Boat for the SUMMER, ;>)
