Cat-5 or cat-6 from the DVR to the router and then run the network setup on the DVR. That's the easy way, but if you want wireless it's a little trickier. Cat-5 is very cheap at places like monoprice

I had to forward port my router to get Network Services to start and connect properly. It may be useful to know that the lower number ports are default.

So you can forward TCP ports in groups of two consecutive ports (pairing by STB & Audio) starting at 27161, 27162 for first STB. Then it should setup either Automatically or Manually, whichever you prefer.

I believe with a router, the ports still have to be forwarded; at least, that was my experience with D-Link DIR-615. It helps also to allow a little time for VOD to setup and launch before starting network services. If it doesn't work the first day, try again the next day. Mine works within an hour but you'll notice, the INTERNET Connect screen says allow 24 hours for VOD setup.

I also had to move my VOIP router behind the router to allow Network Services to Connect. I could get VOD with VOIP in front of my router but Network Services Connection would always fail.
