It reminds me a bit of Rome of HBO that was canceled to early due to cost. So lets hope they figured out how to control that with their '300' like production sets

Will an Admin please create a Prime Time thread for this show?

I've been excited about this show since I saw the first preview. Looks a lot like Rome, which I loved.

I've been planning on subscribing to Starz just for this show. But I noticed that in the guide, it will also be showing on Encore at the exact same time. Isn't that really odd? I wonder if it will be on Encore for the entire season? I hope so, that should save me $12.95 a month on Starz. :)

Have it set on my DVR. Not sure if I'll like the 300 aspect of the action on the show, all that speeding up and slowing down stuff annoys me. I walked out of the theater and got my money back when I went to see 300, still don't like that movie.

I have no reason to think that it will be like 300 in photographic style, I think what was meant was merely "swords and sandals".

BTW, Rome looks great on Blu-Ray - I was just watching an ep a few days ago, and in it Caesar mentions to Anthony that he will look like "Leonidas at Thermopylae" (a specific reference to the event that was the subject of 300).

The "swords and sandals" bit doesn't bother me, it's the trailers that show the slow motion fighting. It looks heavily influenced by the action style of 300, but I'll keep my opinion in check until I actually see the show. I could be dead wrong on the subject.

I'll most likely end up becoming a fan. Anything that has Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert involved usually gets my vote.

Rome is one of my near future purchases on Blu actually.:D

What I meant is that like the movie 300 where only two scenes in the whole move were really outside and the rest shot on a green screen stage....so to will this show.

They do it to cut down on production cost...thus it should be able to avert the downfall of Rome (no pun intended) which was production cost.

Ok, I got ya. After watching the first episode tonight on The 101 Network that was plainly apparent. The production values as far as that goes are great compared to, say, Sanctuary on the NBC ruined network SyFy. While Sanctuary is a great show, the 'fake' backdrops really bug me sometimes.

As far as the rest of Spartacus goes, I'll speak more on that after the premiere on Starz. Don't want to spoil it for anyone.:D
