streaming question

I use dvbdream and vlc to stream to my bedroom pc
my question is I used to stream on default port 1234 dvbdream and vlc default port 1234 now all of sudden this does not work, for some reason.
I can select another port everything is fine, I just don't understand why all of sudden , I cant use port 1234
I turned off antivirus and firewalls, before I decided to try another port, then I turned them back on when I found out that was not the case. any thoughts on this.

You may want to download a port scanner, you may have a virus/trojan horse or something else using that port now... For example:

firewall apps are notorious for telling you they turned off, but didnt.

I got it working again, I can stream to work pc and my cellphone again also.
When I run netstat , looked like microsoft was using that port.
I turned off sharing in connections properties, all is good now.
