I have seen full-screen scroll on WHDH (NBC for now) and WLVI (CW) stating that their contract with Directv is over on July 15th and the stations will be pulled. I am assuming Sunbeam wants a lot for WHDH and WLVI despite the coming affiliate changes in Boston.

I don't know if their station in Miami is affected.

I just saw it on a DVR Olympic Trial track event broadcast. With Sunbeam about to likely lose WHDH's NBC affiliation, and WLVI's CW affiliation being up soon, I bet the brass at Sunbeam is looking to pull a "I'll give you $2.00 tomorrow for a hamburger today mentailty". Come January 2017, it's possible that WSVN might be their only profitable property. Best case scenario with our current info, WHDH is carrying the CW in January, and WLVI might be gone.

I won't miss WHDH or WLVI.

NBC programming is garbage in my book. All WLVI shows is Maury.

I know DirecTV will cave in at some point, but I wish they wouldn't.

This is Sunbeam trying to make a big profit on their product, while it's still profitable. A year from now, it's likely that WHDH will be a news only outlet, and WLVI will be either My Network TV, independent, or off the air. It's likely that come next month, CBS will move The CW over to WSBK. When Tribune sold it to Sunbeam, the writing was clear that it's days might be numbered.

Yes, they show Jerry Springer and Steve Wilkos too. Sorry, you left it wide open for that joke. Actually WLVI's lineup in the afternoon is a million times better than the drivel that WFXT puts out. At FOX 25, we have FOX, the news, and TMZ!

Just for fun, I tried to get a DNS waiver for NBC and CW online. It took less than 20 minutes for both 392 and 394 to go live.

FOX used to own WFXT, now a COX station, I bet it's a carry over contract to air TMZ. Probably all the FOX O&O stations air it. Here in Minneapolis, the FOX O&O and the FOX O&O My Network TV (duopoly) airs it at least twice a day. The FOX station across the border in La Crosse, Wisconsin guess what, they air it too! I would not be a surprised if many or all FOX stations across the country air it. Can't get enough Harvy Levin!.

Vermont Fox WFFF also carries TMZ, but not all the different ones. Fox 25 REALLY is local news, TMZ, or Fox Network. And the Boston primaries love to have paid programming for hours on the weekend, when there isn't network stuff. I am not really sure if there are different shows or if Fox 25 just airs the same thing over and over, I have never watched more than 2 seconds of TMZ if I accidentally tune into it.

These local retrans issues on both sat companies are getting old fast. It's the greedy station owners gouging both carriers which adds some more cash flow to their station. I support both Dish & Direct for their stance on fees, but is Charlie that cheap?. Since most of the locals take down are on Dish, but Direct does have them too.

Quick story:

I Used to work at the uplink facility in Cheyenne, WY in Master Control (used to take care of the Charlie Chat's, remember those? :) ) world and the pay was low, but working their is good for the resume and it was lot's of fun. One of our engineering receivers had the adult channels locked out with a pin number, but everybody knew it anyway. They have people their that just monitor all the channels, probably 200 monitors to catch outages from the providers Dish carried. They probably made minimum wage since all they did was check channels. Cost of living in Cheyenne wasn't bad but should have asked for higher pay. I eventually left the company for a much higher paying job.

I am glad I'm not the only one with stories. Back in the day, they used to edit porn in the DirecTV editing rooms for loudness correction before we have all those automated processes we have now. This was only the tip of the iceberg of what I have seen and heard!

In the channel watching room, a piece of paper covered the adult channels monitors, but the only thing seen was the on screen VU meters. So I guess they green bars were not going up and down (no pun intended) the supervisor would have to check it visually. During my phone interview they asked me if violent or adult material bother you?. I said you mean porn, he said yes and I said hell no!. Such memories. Wish my backyard had some on those dishes... Of course we both de-reailed the original post but you can't resist talking shop.
