We have 4 receivers and 4 TV's. Not ready to upgrade to HDTV yet. We have a 3800, a 2800, adn two 311's.

On the old 2800 and the old 3800, the program guide does not go ahead very far. On these receivers that's how it is. (This is all legal paid for equipment from Dishnetwork BTW).

The 311 models will download the program guides a few days ahead, so I would like to swap one of the 311's (on a TV we don't watch very much), with the older 2800 in our living room.

If I swap out these two receivers, will I have a problem? It seems to me that there should be no problem, but thought I would ask. Thanks!

There's a quad-output LNB in both legacy and DishPro variants. But I'm guessing you have no external switches and a legacy quad. If so, then you will have no problem swapping your receivers around.
