Thinking of switching to direct tv. $40.00 increase may have been the last straw. Can i use the same cable's that are in the house now from tw.? Do i need a phone line? If i switch it looks like i will save about $60.00 the 1st year and about $35.00 the 2nd. Are there any other thing's i should look for if i decide to switch?thanks for any suggestions.

Most of the time you can use existing wire, if it is RG6 coax you'll be good, however, if there are any splitters in the run, then D* cannot use it .... hopefully they are not in the wall....

RG59 can be gotten away with on short runs, but RG6 is preferred.
