What really matters is how many cables you have coming down from the dish.

No third party receiver is SWiM compatible.

The Sony Sat-B2 is an old old receiver. Even with a legacy dish, it probably won't work with local SD channels if they are available from 119.
And I'm sure it can't handle the guide data. Best to junk it.

It should work. It used to anyway. I think it was the first one I owned and I get sd locals from 119.

When I had the A2 and B2, my area didn't have locals so I can't verify this.
There is still the question about the guide data.
If it does, then most likely it would have to tune to the higher numbers to get locals.

can i use the 18 inch dish for this receiver and use the SWM dsh for the HD receivers and set it up on my account????

maybe. I dont know if they would activate it since it is so old

But you can use that on a 18" dish

If the lnb (SL5)has the four outputs and is connected to an external swm switch, then the receiver should be connected to a legacy port on the switch. If the lnb (SL5S) has one output and it is connected to a swm splitter, then it won't work.
