First email Q from "Ken" was me (MPEG2 conversion), second one was not me. ;)

Their answer was that MPEG2-HD channels will be converted to MPEG4-HD on December 1st.

Other high points:

- November 20th will see Folders on External Hard Drives.

- December will see availability of the new 2-way remote with learning for $19.99 MSRP (less than I see 6.3 selling for).

- Seeing someone's DVR's Dish Guide on a Trio Cellphone using Sling.

Not a bad tech chat. I give it a thumb up.

It was pure tech the way it should be... The Sling stuff went on a little long but it was still good. :)

* Call to pay one-time DVR EHD fee
Is this the "one-time" fee we already paid to use the EHD with our 622? or is this in addition to that.... how much if it is.

I missed the whole blasted thing.

Mark said $39.95 and labeled it a DVR fee. He said it was additional and call the EHD fee for the 622/722 an "archive fee". Huh???????? To me it should be one EHD fee. Part of the cost of my 722 wasn't a DVR fee. Just another way to get money from a turnip.

Better late than never for the old HD pak going to MPEG4 FINALLY!!!!!

My god I could not even watch Megadeth on HDNet last night the macroblocking was HORRIBLE.

It was the first Higgins report that I was actually able to sit through to the end.

The "click to setup a DVR timer for the show being advertised" is a great idea. Helps both the customer and the programmers.

Drat it, I missed it all too.

Clear as mud! So... If we've already paid the $40 archive fee, then we still have to pay another $40 for the DVR Conversion. But suppose we have not paid that $40 archiving fee, buy a 211, and convert it to a DVR with the DVR Conversion fee. Isn't that automatically an external archive? Or do we have to pay $80? And then what about the monthly fee?

Yep. Great news indeed. No more MPEG2 hd after Dec 1!!!!!!

Click to setup...

I wonder if this would be for ViP only receivers or also for the old 508s??? Thoughts?

P.S.: I totally agree on the Higgins report! Unfortunately, I only saw the last few minutes. Thanks to all who posted screen shots and audio clips!!!!!

SO...if I want to hook an EHD to my 211 for DVR functions, I have to pay $80 ($40 "one-time" DVR EHD fee + $40 archive fee) ?!?
