One of my 722k's is flaking out, intermittently freezing and restarting, so I called in to get it swapped out. The rep said that my system is "obsolete" and that I should upgrade to Hopper. After making clear I want no Hopper, she said she had "sent her strong signal" to my ailing receiver. I told her that I had already checked signal levels and they were good. She then asked me to unplug it, and I asked why, given that it's currently running fine, and this has been of no help previously. She then said that as long as currently working she couldn't proceed any further. So I asked her to clarify that support could not proceed until it fails again, and she affirmed. So I asked to be given to Tech Support. She stated that she was TS, so I asked for supervisor. After a long hold in utter silence with no indication the call was even still connected (I actually thought they'd hung up) a guy comes on to pick things up. He said that the 722's obsolete but that without doing Hopper it could possibly be swapped out for a Wally but there'd be no 2nd user or DVR.

I was beginning to think he was going to stick to his guns on that but then he started in with some other stuff including that my bad receiver is only 720p. I retorted that I know that's incorrect and that the 722 is 1080i HDTV. He also stated that it's 19 years old (not) and they don't have any. I told him that I know it's not still being produced and don't expect a new replacement, but rather to receive a refurbished unit and I'll send this here one back. He then consented to sending a refurb and told me that they won't be needing mine back.

At least I didn't have to go to my last card, the "c" word. This took me straight back to my dealering days!

I just tell them it's completely dead and won't do anything to avoid the flowchart of checks they have. I hung on to my ViPs too long, should have switched to a Wally long before I did.

Can you add the hard drive to the wally?..like the 211

Can you factory reset a Wally if it's never been activated?
