The "101" No Longer Authorized?

Up until late last week, I have been receiving "The 101" on my DirecTV Limited package, however, since then, it has gone to Not Authorized Call ext 721. Anyone else having this problem? It's been a freebie (or not) channel since it first came about.


On a side note, I'm very tempted to call DTV and upgrade to the Family Choice package with the Distant Networks, as it'll only end up being about $8/mo more to get a few more channels (or $5/mo w/o the actual locals?), but i'm very nervous about calling them since #1 I am receiving all of the NY/LA feeds for the big 4, and #2 my local area now has LiL capability, therefore, giving them reason to 'flag' my account as receiving the National Networks. I'm paying nearly $40/month right now to receive DirecTV Limited + Big 4 Networks:

DIRECTV LIMITED - Charge $21.99 $1.37
Network: CBS from NYC/LA - Charge $2.99 $0.19
Network: ABC from NYC/LA - Charge $2.99 $0.19
Network: FOX from NYC/LA - Charge $2.99 $0.19
Network: NBC from NYC/LA - Charge $2.99 $0.19

Anyone have any dealings with having the networks, then calling in to change your programming after your LiL's were launched?
 
I'm guessing they just removed it from the limited package.

Is 101 included in Family package? Some of their content wouldn't be "family" appropriate.

Maybe Try doing the upgrade at Directv.com. Log into your account!
 
thanks for the replies so far! Not too many people on the "Limited" plan I see, lol.

I had already tried to upgrade on directv.com, but it refuses me, telling me "Your account cannot be upgraded online, please call 1800(whatever) for assitance".. I just can't believe the $3 jump per year. When I was first on that package, it was only $12.99, not too many years ago..
 
As an update, I have e-mailed and called DirecTV -- the DTV CSR who replied to my e-mail said that yes, i should indeed be authorized for Ch. 101, to try to resend auth hits and reboot box (been there done that), so further email's they told me to call Tech Support, done that, the tech I spoke with was very nice and knowledgeable, but D* did not provide him with any type of access to check my package (since its so obsolete), and he said that he *thinks* they have made some changes to who gets it, and who doesn't. He said that he (again) *thinks* that it was even removed off of the Family Choice package, but he doesn't know for sure. So I replied back to D* and told them that I'm in limbo, not knowing if i'm supposed to get it or not. They have sent it to their "Specialist Team" for further review.. i'll keep everyone updated.

Anyone who has JUST the Family Choice plan verify if 101 is working?

On Directvs website the 101 is only available with the Choice package or above. Not the Family pack. DIRECTV - Package Choices

Good luck dealing with them. If you read my thread on MLB Extra Innings below this, you will see that I have been dealing with MANY customer reps on the phone and almost daily e-mails. They all keep trying to resend the info and wanting me to reset the dvr (over and over). I have had absolutely no luck so far. I am getting the same 721 message that you are getting. I only have Directv during baseball season, so right now I'm paying for monthly service and stuff just to get baseball and I can't watch any of the games. If I don't get it resolved this week, I am going to try to get them to cancel everything and let me out of my contract, since I was told when I first signed up last season that I could suspend the account after the season and reactivate it for each season. I never would have agreed to service with them if I couldn't have. Good luck!
 
Welp, after many emails back and forth, they have finally told me that it is no longer available to my package.

Here's one of the emails I received:

DirecTV Limited includes only the following channels:

Bloomberg Information Television
PBS You
C-Span 1
QVC
Fit TV
RFD TV
Home Shopping Network
Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN)
HITN (requires 2 or 3 LNB dish)
Word Network
NASA TV
WorldLink TV

I'm sorry but the channel 101 has never been apart of this package.

I further respond by saying that it HAS been a part of the package up until last week or so. The response received to that was:

"The 101 is now only available with SELECT, CHOICE, CHOICE XTRA, PLUS DVR, PLUS HD-DVR, and PREMIER packages."

So that answers my question.. Guess i'll buzz rentention to see what they'll do for me since I'm paying $21.99 for those channels, and been an active customer since 1998.. hmmmmm
