Watch the New Trailer for CW's 'The Flash'
The CW TV network has offered us a look at its upcoming adaptation of The Flash. Check out the trailer below! In the clip, fans are re-introduced to Barry Allen/The Flash, whom they met in The CW's other DC Entertainment adaptation, Arrow. Allen (played by Grant Gustin) received his super speed after being struck by lightning. In The Flash trailer, we see Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) set the tone for the show by telling Allen, "I don't think that bolt of lightning struck you, I think it chose you."
Allen, a scientist, is driven by the need to locate the person who murdered his mother in front of him when he was a child. Along the way, under Arrow's guidance, he attempts to do some good around Central City. Talking with Entertainment Weekly, Gustin differentiated his storyline from that of Arrow's, saying, "I'm more willing to take on the responsibility of being a hero than Oliver was at first, and as I have Stephen [Amell] in real life to guide me through this, Barry really does have Oliver to go to. Hopefully in the future, we can see Oliver guide him."
Sparks flew between Barry and Arrow's Felicity, but the scientist also has a local love interest in Iris West (Candice Patton). The two have quite a history in the comic books, but they start out as nothing more than friends on the show. "They are longtime friends, they kind of grew up together, and she is potentially his love interest in the show. She's in graduate school studying to be a criminal psychologist, so she'll work in the precinct with her father and Barry throughout the show," Patton told EW.
The series also features two other characters previously seen on Arrow—Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) and Cailin Snow (Danielle Panabaker)—as well as Detective Joe West, played by Jesse L. Martin. If you look closely in the clip, you'll see glimpses of at least two potential villains—the Reverse Flash and Weather Wizard.Comic book writer Geoff Johns, and Arrow's Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg are the executive producers of the series, which will premiere this fall on Tuesdays, ahead of Supernatural. The Flash Gets Its First Synopsis, Plus Footage From The Pilot http://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/the-flash-synopsis-footage-pilot/
The CW has rolled out new footage from the pilot of its upcoming superhero drama, The Flash, featuring an interview with star Tom Cavanagh, and if you weren’t excited before – prepare to be now.Cavanagh will play Dr. Harrison Wells, who is in charge of the team at Central City’s S.T.A.R. Labs – Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) – responsible for reviving Barry Allen (Grant Gustin). Fans of Arrow may remember catching a glimpse of his team during “The Man Under The Hood,” as they found a creative way to stay alive during all the chaos.
The network has also released the first in-depth synopsis for the series, and it looks like they didn’t leave much to the imagination.Barry Allen was just 11 years old when his mother was killed in a bizarre and terrifying incident and his father was falsely convicted of the murder. With his life changed forever by the tragedy, Barry was taken in and raised by Detective Joe West, the father of Barry’s best friend, Iris. Now, Barry has become a brilliant, driven and endearingly geeky CSI investigator, whose determination to uncover the truth about his mother’s strange death leads him to follow up on every unexplained urban legend and scientific advancement that comes along. Barry’s latest obsession is a cutting edge particle accelerator, created by visionary physicist Harrison Wells and his S.T.A.R. Labs team, who claim that this invention will bring about unimaginable advancements in power and medicine. However, something goes horribly wrong during the public unveiling, and when the devastating explosion causes a freak storm, many lives are lost and Barry is struck by lightning. After nine months in a coma, Barry awakens to find his life has changed once again – the accident has given him the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion – and not everyone is using their new powers for good. In the months since the accident, the city has seen a sharp increase in missing people, unexplained deaths and other strange phenomena. Barry now has a renewed purpose – using his gift of speed to protect the innocent, while never giving up on his quest to solve his mother’s murder and clear his father’s name. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become…The Flash.

"The Flash": 5 Reasons you should watch the "Arrow" Spinoff

When episodes of a series leak online, we find ourselves torn between waiting to watch them live and wanting to watch them now, and we couldn't help ourselves this time around. After witnessing Grant Gustin's amazing performance in "Arrow" episodes, "The Scientist" and "Three Ghosts" as Barry Allen, we had this all-consuming love for the character, and immediately had to see more of him. While "The Flash" starts Barry's story a little differently than what we saw in "Arrow," the pilot episode is one of the best pilots we've seen in a long time.
