The Official Cleveland Browns '08 Season Preview

Like I said, it's an exhibition game, if the Lions win, it's due to "opposition indifference". If this were the regular season, we would play you hard, but find some unique and novel way to lose in the last 2 minutes. Sad, but true. I keep hoping this "will be the season they prove me wrong", but in the end, it's just "second verse, same as the first". Like a broken record.

Thoughts on Preseason Game #2

Browns @ Giants
August 18th

1. Apparently the Giants didn't get the memo last night was only a pre-season game. They played like it was a postseason game instead by blitzing and stunting. Who does that in preseason?

2. The Browns clearly wern't ready for the Giants all out blitz fest. The G-Men looked like they were out for blood and by injuring 4 Browns to injuries last night and 2 to concussions, it showed.

3. I hate the new all-brown pants. They looked like poopy leotards! :D

4. I hope Josh Cribbs (ankle), Derek Anderson (concussion) and Brodney Pool (concussion) are ok! Damn preseason!

5. The one solace in last night's game: This is only preseason. It's practice. It doesn't count.....

6. See you week 6, G-Men. Payback's a B****!

Sounds like the Browns didn't get the memo to me. This was a football game, wasn't it? "Ouch, you're hitting so haaaard!", sounds like a Three Stooges skit.:D

That does sound like a poor excuse Paul and you're right. Bottom line, the Browns were the one's who misjudged the intensity.

This was the Giants first game in front of their home crowd since winning the SB. People still doubt how good they are and they wanted to set the tone early and prove otherwise. They were jacked up and came to play and hit someone. They were also playing a lot of "real season" D (not the vanilla cover 2 or base).

Conversely, the Browns came to NY to go through the motions. RAC (Romeo A. Crennel) didn't have them hitting in camp and it showed. My guess is that he was waiting till this week anyway to really start workng these guys (trying to avoid TC injuries earlier).

Overall, I'm disappointed, but not really that concerned yet. Ass whippings like that can be a good thing, these guys were getting all the press and pats on the back, and were eating up everything people were telling them. Now, I think they really realize they need to work.

Get rid of those ugly brown pants!! And maybe the networks will have second thoughts about all those prime time games this year after that awful showing by the first teamers last night. Would be just as well considering their poor play whenever they have the national stage.

I guess that's what all these useless exhibitions are for. Time will tell if they learned anything, unlike the Bungles who are re-signing Chris Henry today. (That's just too funny.)

The Lions did Sunday against Cincinnati, and it was obvious. The Bengals didn't game plan against the Lions--I guess it's their own choice whether or not to for a preseason game.

The Bengals certainly don't run stunts against their preseason opponents because they don't want to give away their defensive schemes. (Withhold the jokes about the defense, please..... everyone is well aware. :p)

In case you or anyone else wants to voice their opinion on the "brown pants", the Browns are looking for your feedback. Vote, here........

I can see a use for the brown pants- "Holy sh*t, they're blitzing!"

OK, I know it's only exhibition season, but when the LIONS manhandle your team, you've got to be concerned.

Paul, show me a team who plays without their:

A) Starting QB (Derek Anderson)
B) Starting RB (Jamal Lewis)
C) Starting #1 WR (Braylon Edwards)
D) Both Starting Strong Safeties (Sean Jones & Brodney Pool)
E) Stud Kickoff/Special Teams Return Specialist (Josh Cribbs)

and I will show you a team who get's "manhandled" by the Lions.

I'm still up in Canada, but I found an internet to post on, so I'm still able to post with you guys. Toronto's great- they actually care about hockey, whereas in Wisconsin, they still obsess over where Brett Favre got his Chinese takeout.

Anyway,

I know Cleveland is struggling in the preseason, but let me reiterate:

these are meaningless games.

Exhibit A:

The 1990 Buffalo Bills and the 1991 Washington Redskins, both talented teams like Cleveland, went a combined 1-7 in the preseason.

During the seasons, they went a combined 30-5.

Thanks for the consolation Sabres. To put our situation in perspective, the New England Patriots are also 0-3. The Colts are 1-3. Does anyone realistically think they'll be busts this year? Preseason is worthless. All it does is injury players in games that are meaningless.

When are you coming back to the states Sabres? There's a ton of sports needed to be talked about. Your lack of presence has been felt lately. It's been relatively quiet here the past few days....

Last I checked, Wisconsin doesn't have a NHL team. So why should they give a (expletive deletive of your choice here) about hockey? Given how bad the Maple Leafs have been, (they're rivaling the Detroit Lions in their futility), I would think that Brett Favre would be a more amusing subject.
