Hate to show my technical ignorance but....the only problem that I feel we have with D* (well, major problem) is that I hear and guess and see that we are getting shortchanged in HD picture quality. Yup, the down rez or compression issue again. So with all of the talk of Sats and MPEG4 and now that a couple of places are up and running, what is the result. Is the picture improved? Isn't that what these things are for or were they primarily used to get the locals. Seems that the downgraded pics are a problem everywhere including D*, E* and cable. I hear that even the over the air signals may be zapped by the particular station that it emits from. Some things look great, some semi-shabby. Some games on Superfan look fantastic some not so great. Is this going to change in the near future? I just want to see what the equipment is suppose to show! Is MPEG 4 the answer?

Mpeg4 could be the answer. But thats put to the provider. It could look just as bad or worse depending on their goals.
