Signed back up for college football, and since they ran a special on the 4K add on, I took it to try it.
Football in 4K looks pretty great, the few in HDR even more so.
I wouldn't keep the add on all the time, but for some sporting events I can see where it can be of value if you want the best pq.

I signed up for a month and got a free month of 4K. The Fox HDR games look OK but seem very dim. The ESPN 4K SDR game looks very, very good. Spectacular would be a good comment. ESPN is 4K all the way through, cameras, truck, and out to the web. Fox, of course, is 1080P to the truck and then upscaled to 4K/HDR. The difference really shows.
Yeah the hdr fox was dim. I had to adjust the set. Then it looked good.
The ESPN feeds I've seen are super sharp. Read signs across the stadium with perfect clarity sharp.
I can adjust my Vizio's Gamma to brighten it but I just don't feel like I should need to make picture adjustments to get a decent 4K picture for just one channel.

Not at all. I just wanted to see what the 4K hubbub was about.
Actually I thought I was going to get a free 2 weeks of the service but after I signed up I see that I used a freeview sometime in the past so it billed me $64.99 straight away. Oh well, That gives me a month to watch 4K sports, specifically ESPN 4K and NBC 4K sports. I will be cancelling immediately before the next month bills.
Looks like all of the NBC owned channels are up for renewal... I just saw the crawl go by on a NBC channel

A new YTTV channel I noticed is LIVE NOW Fox. This was a streaming channel I've followed out of Phoenix since it started several years ago. It's not as personal as it once was probably because it's gone national. The morning show is broadcast out of Orlando and switches to Phoenix at 10 am eastern time for the rest of the day. It's where I go for unfiltered news.
The potential loss of NBCU channels on YTTV makes me even more glad I switched to DirecTV Stream last spring. The NBC news department and cable news channels are my go-to source for fact-based journalism.

We know that you love watching the wide variety of live sports, news, and shows available to you on YouTube TV. That's why we have been working so hard to renew our deal with NBCUniversal to continue carrying their content on YouTube TV. However, since our agreement expires on Thursday, September 30, 2021, and we have not yet been able to reach an equitable agreement, we wanted to give you an early heads-up so you understand your choices.
Our ask is that NBCU treats YouTube TV like any other distributor. In other words, for the duration of our agreement, YouTube TV seeks the same rates that services of similar size get from NBCU so we can continue offering YouTube TV to members at a competitive and fair price.
If NBCU offers us the equitable terms we are asking for, we will renew our agreement with them. However, if we are unable to reach a deal by Thursday, the NBCU lineup of channels will no longer be available on YouTube TV, and we will decrease our monthly price from $64.99 to $54.99 (while this content remains off our platform).
At that time, you can sign up for NBCUniversal's own streaming service, Peacock Premium,* which NBC currently offers starting at $4.99/month to continue watching NBCU content, such as live football.
While we would love every member to stay with our service, we understand that you may still choose to pause or cancel your membership. We want to make YouTube TV flexible, so members can pause or cancel anytime. We will give you updates as negotiations continue, and going forward, please continue to check this webpage for additional information and updates.
Please know that NBCU is an important partner for us, and as you can imagine, this is not the outcome that we want. We are still in active conversations with NBCU and are hopeful we can keep their content available on YouTube TV.

Sounds nice in the moment, but D* was without locals in dozens of major markets for a couple weeks not even 2 years ago.
These things are just part of the broadcast business, some less necessary than others is all.

This line is very misleading, as YTTV makes it sound like their customers will come out ahead with the $10 discount + $5 for Peacock while still having access to the same content. Peacock only replaces most broadcast prime time shows available next day (The Blacklist one week), a limited selection of shows next day from their cable channels, Sunday Night Football, some EPL, WWE, and coverage of a few other minor sports. You won't get any of their cable news content (other than highlight clips), your local NBC affiliate, and, well, pretty much everything else. And of course you can't record and watch without commercials unless you pay $10/mo.
It really depends on what you watch whether that would be an adequate replacement.
