Hey folks, thought I'd ask the Dish community. I have a Dish3 with Joey. And of course the OTA adapter. I asked the community some time ago why my Joey scrambles every so often. I was told it is the OTA. So I purchased yet another one. Within a few weeks it happens again. Now it happens every evening around 6:00 PM (ish). My solution is to unplug the Dish main, then reboot, and all is good until the following evening. I have used the OTA Dish brand and AirTv. AirTv seems to last a little longer. So, after all that --my question: Is there any other type of OTA adapters out there that will work to solve this problem?

I have had some success by tuning into one of the local OTA channels for a while then switch back to the sat channel.
Same here. I think what most users miss by blaming the OTA adapter is switching to an OTA channel gets the Joey off of any of the Hopper tuners. Doing this seems this has the effect of resetting something.

Last night I had to go back and forth between a hopper tuner and an OTA channel several times before whatever it is got reset. Definitely a software issue that's been with us for a long while.

I have noticed it also!!!! Every once in awhile, the Joeys that I had will go off. So, I replace with a new Joey. Still would do it. Replaced with a 4K Joey and it did it again, just yesterday. I have an OTA, also. Something that I have also noticed, is that I kept my locals with Dish, along with the OTA Locals, that my OTA Locals will stop working, until I reboot the Hopper 3. I have noticed maybe 3 times, but I am still happy that I got the OTA.

Many threads here with many users affected. It's essentially been confirmed that the culprit is a software issue. No ETA from Dish on when a fix can be expected. ...
My best guess is that this will be addressed in the December software release. That way, the software engineers get it taken care of before they go on their holiday break.
... Actually, no words at all....

722 is the better way. :biggrin
Since the OP already has a Hopper, the best solution (for anyone else here who is having the problem, also) would be to replace the Joey with a Wally. The monthly fee would be the same, and the lack of integration with the Hopper would prevent this issue from happening on the Wally. The Wally would also provide two additional satellite tuners, for those using lower-model Hoppers who may worry about running out of available tuners sometimes. And of course, by not using a Joey, that would also free up a tuner on the Hopper itself.

Is switching to an OTA channel the only thing (short of rebooting the Hopper) that will fix this? How about using Netflix, launching any other app that is available on the Joey, or watching something On Demand? I am just curious. Any of those other options would also free up a Hopper tuner.

Why wait? I can't believe it will take that long to come up with a fix.

Not in this case. Subs are reporting getting Joeys and Hoppers swapped out over this issue, and some techs are probably doing more than that to try and resolve it. Why not let everyone know and avoid all that churn and needless costs?

While you are right, anyone who makes a Depeche Mode reference is ok in my book. :)
