Here are a few issues I have seen frequently enough to be annoying: (I have two Hoppers and no Joeys)

  • Auto Hop is frequently not applied to eligible programs. Either all or some of the programs for a evening.
  • For PTAT programs for which there is a timer created to save new programs. If a new episode of a program is shown then re-shown later in the same week, the program will be saved on the second showing as well as the first. A current example of this is “Revolution”. Episode 5 was aired on Monday 10/15/2012 (it was marked as a new episode). It is also scheduled to be re-shown on Saturday 10/20/2012 (it is correctly not marked as a new episode). The Saturday showing will be placed in “My Recordings”. This should not be the case as it is not a “new” episode.
  • Given two linked Hoppers. Call them Hopper A and Hopper B. Periodically if I attempt to watch a program recorded on Hopper B from Hopper A. Rather that the selected program being played, I will see the video from one Hopper A tuner and the hear audio from another tuner on Hopper A. Resetting Hopper A resolves this condition.
  • When watching a program that is being recorded. When I catch up to “Live TV” (I either paused or started view sometime after the recording started), the video at times freeze with the “Live TV”/”>” (Play) icons flipping back and forth. Stopping the playback then re-selecting (Live TV) will correct the playback.

I am also curious if anyone else has noticed along the left half of the bottom edge of the picture a number of dots or specks develop. They go away after reset. Then re-appear over time. These specks appear on both Hoppers. One uses an HDMI connection, the other a composite connection.

I reported this issue to DIRT about a month ago. For me, it happened on Grimm in August (new episodes on Mondays which repeated on Fridays), on the first episode of Revolution (new on a Monday and repeated that Wednesday), and the season premier of Bones (new on a Monday and repeated on that Friday). It hasn't happened since I reported it, although I'm sure that's a coincidence.

I have reported it also. I wanted to point out that it is likely to happen again. Grimm and Bones were programs I noticed too. Once the new season got in full swing there haven't been as many re-airing of episodes in the same week.

While fortunately it doesn't happen often, for me the biggest problem for me is the fact PTAT can't recover after a rain interruption. If the signal is interrupted for weather, when the signal returns only the ABC station has been recorded. The CBS signal is there if you go to live TV, but nothing gets recorded, either in PTAT or my recordings (if a timer has been set.)

Since live TV works, it must be in the way PTAT is synced. This has to be fixed. I'm about ready to turn off PTAT and I don't want to do this because it is a big benefit (but it isn't a benefit if recordings aren't recorded.)

Perhaps minor but, the EHD icons not being displayed properly is irksome....this is an issue that could be corrected. It existed for a while with the vip922 and here it is again...an annoyance. :coffee
Full integration of Hoppers would be nice, or at least the ability to share EHD content between Hoppers. It was mentioned by Dish in the roll out of Hopper but never materialized.

jwill - You are right. I forgot about that.

Another improvement would be, information such as the first air date and episode number displayed on the top part of the EPG display would make using the EPG easier. As it is the following information is displayed:

Program Name
Episode Title
Description

What would be useful would be to see this information. Similar information is shown for programs stored in "My Recordings" and "PrimeTime Anytime" so there is space on the EPG display to provide this information.

Program Name
Episode Title
Episode Number / Original Air Date
Description

Last evening all but one expected program ("Elementary") had AutoHop enabled.

Any insights as to why there is such a wide range of time for having AutoHop enabled on programs. I have seen mentions of anywhere from 1:00am (or earlier) to when mine are enabled at about 4:30am.

I think last night's problem (Elementary) was related to just that program. I didn't watch it until late this afternoon and AutoHop was still not there. Other programs from last night on the same network had AutoHop.

Last night at 8pm there was a repeat of last week's Grimm and a new episode at 9pm. Both showed up in My Recordings.

We have seen this issue when the display setting is not correct. Please go to settings->HDTV setup and increase the overscan area so it covers the bottom of the screen - the specs will go away

I have noticed this as well and it is really really aggregating when it occurs.

1. If you haven't noticed they reset your guide back to "my channels" every night when they auto reboot, making custom guides worthless, unless everyone remembers to change back to the correct guide EVERY day, nice "feature". The only work around is to hide all the junk channels with parental locks, huge FAIL..

2. Auto reboot, the box is so reliable that 24hr up is a "long time", love the "I need to reboot what are you doing watching tv at this hour?" who ru you? my mother? must be a microsoft os..

3. Notifications, they feel the need to notify me all the time about crap, but not when I'm watching a recording, a "hey wouldn't you rather ff through a commercial or do you REALLY want to stop watching your recording" would be nice, and if they REALLY want to impress me make the recall button be able to go back to the spot I was watching in my recording.

4. DNLA (home media) you've got parent controls on to hide all the garbage, so you now need a pw to open this, now it's open of course no servers are visible, ok settings/network/reset/save/back/home media/passwrd yeah servers (try teaching that to your parents, yeah right, thank you for calling "having kids isn't ALL bad technical support")

Ok now drill down 4 times to get to content after only 15 or so steps, of course content without ff/rr/resume pretty weak, and hopefully their is no "accidental content" cause their ain't no delete key, so getting "bims with big boobs" off your playlist is media server/delete/update library you've done all that but the honey badger don't care, the playlist hangs on like grim death, the only way I've found to force the playlist to update is starting from scratch on the hooper resetting the network etc.. to get an up to date playlist.. fun..

5. Game finder great, record game, where is record ALL games. tried to add usc games for my dad's dvr so now it records EVERY program with the letters usc in it, imagine if your teams are say the heat/giants/cowboys etc.. you'll end up with some sort of fetish porn collection

6. Episode #'s used to be in the info screen now GONE, not from the system but someone had go and delete it, it's still available select program open search scroll up to the icon TO the and enter, nice job hitting info was WAY to easy. Also rentals have tomato scores and user ratings, so the info to have Episode #'s, critic scores and user rating on the info screen is there take 10 MINUTES AND ADD THE FIELDS TO THE INFO SCREEN!! GEEZZZ...
