Replaced Digital Channel in Detroit Area

Looks like the digital weather channel on 4.2 in the detroit area has been replaced with a channel called "this"

THANKS for the update! I have been enjoying "ThisTV" on my local sub channel - I find lots of movies to watch! Just need to find a guide now!

Weather-plus is gone or going.

I had a conversation with the WHDH guy at Chnl 7 -boston.

It was a joint project with the local nbc affiliates and nbc network.

Whdh-DT2 (7.2) is switching to This TV 'at the end of the week'. They already pulled WeatherPlus.

I also talked to WJAR-10 from Providence. She told me the following stuff.

They are pulling WeatherPlus and going to RTN effective Wednesday.

I live in Boston and put up a 9ft quad roof antenna in the summer to pick up Providence!

She also told me about the new news and the 'dress rehersal' they were doing on what will be the RTN 10-2 channel, at 10 pm (They are preempting RTN from 10pm-11pm for news each night).

So right at 10:30pm, weatherplus drops, and a 'newscast' comes on, totally unadvertised etc, etc. The weatheguy was gripeing about having to work more now and the anchor said the same, etc etc. It was quite funny.

So 7-2 will be This TV, and 10.2 will be RTN

And my Tivo knows about both, so I can record all the old TV I Want!!!!!!

philu you lucky dog... :)

I wish our local NBC (KARE11) would drop weather plus and go with something else. All it is now is mainly a radar map

WNGS and KFDF on G18 are both showing a THIS TV logo this morning! A welcome change from the ancient blurry movies that have been on lately.

This is good news for those that weren't able to get THIS TV before. It gives them much more of an audience. Certainly better movies on THIS than what they were airing in the past 3 weeks.

OTA in Huntsville AL too

Discovered ThisTV on ch 48.2, Huntsville AL NBC affiliate yesterday! Great signal.
Iceberg=don't give up yet-this NBC moved their weather plus from 48.2 for This!!

THIS Tv

We got This Tv OTA starting last week here in the Cincinnati area on WXIX tv 19.2 I know they are showing This Tv 24/7 You can get a program guide for Wxix on Titan. Also saw them as well on WNGS and KFDF. They have great movies in the afternoon and evenings. They had it in Dayton Ohio 50 miles north of me, it's OTA there but they only showed This Tv until 8pm, then went to My Tv Network. Great stuff hope it stays on FTA for those of you who don't see it OTA. Thanks! Blind:)

Boy was I glad when I read "this". It must of only just changed as last night they still had the "ancient blurry movies" when I checked. Now for Titan to catch up and provide a guide. (the WXIX listing does seem to match up for WNGS)

There must be a big expansion for ThisTv today, just saw this and went to check out G18 and while switching inputs noticed we now have it OTA in Tulsa on KOTV 6.3. I had to look twice I thought our local RTN8.3 had changed until I changed channels to see where I was at.

We now have RTN, THisTv and VTV on our subchannels

hoping ;) But our NBC is owned by Gannett so doubt they want to add anything

Weatherplus shutdown on 12/31 because they bought the weather channel. Our Gannett station KPNX is still running it without the inserts and I would guess they will do that for all their nbc stations.

When THIS first went on the air in Albany NY it was on the CW affiliate WCWN 45.2. Later it switched to the CBS affiliate WRGB on 6.2 where NBC Universal Sports was previously.

KATU-DT 2-2 added this Mon. Feb. 2

KATU ([ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KATU"]KATU - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:KATU_2news_defaultimage.jpg" class="image"><img alt="KATU 2news defaultimage.jpg" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/ca/KATU_2news_defaultimage.jpg"@@AMEPARAM@@en/c/ca/KATU_2news_defaultimage.jpg[/ame]) finally added THIS as their subchannel Mon. Feb. 2, 2009.
The guide data is -8 GMT but the video is the same as WNGS and KFDF G18 feeds but I figure they'll have that fixed (guide or video) by the 17th.

The 3 Mbps feed looks like a normal internet copy of a DVD, but I don't really care about the blur.
It looks a little worse than the WNGS and KFDF feeds.

Now I don't need a Dish pointed at G18 for THIS.
