My brother lives in an apartment in NYC and is at wits end with TWC. Consequently there are no other cable/sat options. Is it possible for him to ditch that TWC Motorola box, and buy a Tivo receiver? Additionally, what can he expect with Tivo and TWC ... any issues and such? Thanks

I have a TIVO Premiere installed on a TWC system in Milwaukee. I had a lot of trouble initially with the installation, and documented it in the threads linked below. Once I finally got it working, it has been relatively trouble free. However, the tuning adapter still gets confused every few weeks and needs to be rebooted. I was initially rebooting the TIVO as well (a 30 minute process), but that seems to have settled down. Once I got it working, it has served me well, and I am happy.

The real problem is that the TWC techhs who come out to install the necessary cablecard are not trained to do so, and most of the online tech support has never heard of a TIVO.

In essence, install can ge problematic, no VOD, and a few hiccups every couple of weeks ... that it?
