I have an R10 I just bought on my set up with an SWM switch..Not getting all the sats, will this thing even work on this setup or not? If not I guess I need to sell a TIVO unit, but ugh!!!!!!

So how many actual recievers can I use on one of these switches Can I use all 8 outputs or can itonly be 8 tuners?

You mentioned "SWM switch". Does that mean the SWM8 unit? If so, it has legacy outputs which can be used with the R10.

If it is the SWM LNB then no the R10 won't work.

The SWM output side of the SWM8 or the SWM LNB can only handle 8 tuners, DVRs use two even though there's only one connection.

Not really, you just won't be able to record 2 shows on each dvr at the same time. You could set one up for 1 tuner. But, then you would be stuck watching the channel you record.

If you wanted have duel tuners all all receivers, then yeah you will need to change up the equipment.

Right, you can add one more SWM compatible DVR to your 3 other ones. That will max out the SWM LNB.

It seems to me that we may be answering based on slighty different setups.
So, please tell us exactly what you have and what you want to do.

I have the Slimline SWM LNB setup..I just worded it wrong earlier in other words my R10 is not compatible,,

Ugh, is the R15 not caompatible with the SWM? Because I upgraded and added one online and they sent me one of those..I cannot seem to get it to work..

No, the R15 isn't SWiM compatible. If you got the SWiM8 module vs. the SWMLNB that switch has three legacy ports on it to connect to non-SWiM compatible STB's.

I have the LNB..This is what ticks me off. They should have that option when you are ordering online for people like me that have no idea that a receiver I am ordering from them wont work..What a waste of a week.

Who they? If DirecTV installed the SWiM LNB their system is supposed to have a flag on it to indicate it so any receivers they ship are SWiM compable. If you did the SWiM on your own then they won't know about it so you'll get anything.

So if DirecTV installed the SWiM LNB and you ordered the SD DVR from them and they shipped a R15 call them and tell them they messed up and you need an exchange for a R16 or R22 as an earlier post said as the only two SD DVR's that are SWiM compable.
