Thanks for the info. I was about to buy a Tivo  but if it's skipping recordings too...

I was not trying to recommend against Tivo. I was just saying the experience is not guaranteed to be perfect. I don't currently have one, so I can not say for sure, but I'd expect Tivos to be as reliable as Hoppers.

I have 6 TiVos of various generations , all working, I have never noticed a skipped recording on any TiVo device.

Never had a problem with Tivo Minis losing connection, and the UI was SOOOO much faster than the Joey 2.0s I have now. I had a Tivo Stream which worked well for downloading to a mobile device, but out of home streaming never worked for me. Both the Tivo and H3 solutions are good options IMHO. Both are somewhat better than the options from DirecTV, and much, much better than anything I've seen from a cable company.

OK, I do have to agree that the Tivo Mini is much faster than the Joey 2.0. And totally agree that the Tivo, and H3, are far better than the cable DVR's - at least the one available in my area (TWC/Charter). I certainly wouldn't say the Tivo was bad. I just prefer the H3.
