To Hd or not to HD that is the question

Hey Guys, I am thinking about getting a new box and wanted to solicit opinions. I do not currently have an HDTV, however I believe that doesnt matter with the SC boxes (am I correct). I currently have a dsr315 and it has never worked all that well (turns itself off) and I am wanting to get another box...so my questions are this. to HD? if so what box (I don't need a dvr)? or would I be better with a dsr-317 (sd)? Also is now the time or should I wait (something better coming down the line or buggy receivers)? Any other suggestions would also be appreciated.

i have a starchoice dsr505 hd receiver and it works great,i have a hdtv
to watch all the hd channels. you can hook up a dsr505 receiver to a standard tv. more hd channels are coming to starchoice-
wgn-hd,hdnet-hd,and some french channels hd to.
