Have had the Hitachi since Jan of 03... no problems, previous Tv was a 46" Hitachi that lasted 11 years.

Go here to see what size TV you need, at that distance 42 is pretty small.

I guess I go against convention, my viewing distance from the Hitachi is about 7 to 8'... but in my projector room it is the same with 72" diagonal.
